Natalie P. Bocanegra specializes in state governmental ethics and campaign finance law. As an associate with Kaufman Legal Group, Ms. Bocanegra advises candidates, political committees, corporations and major donors on the ethics, campaign, and lobbying laws of various federal, state, and local agencies and jurisdictions, including the Federal Election Commission, California Fair Political Practices Commission, the City of Los Angeles, the City and County of San Francisco, and the City of San Diego, among others.

Prior to joining Kaufman Legal Group, Ms. Bocanegra served as Commission Counsel in the Legal and Enforcement Divisions of the Fair Political Practices Commission. At the Commission, she advised public officials and candidates on provisions of the Political Reform Act, was responsible for Commission regulatory projects, and handled a variety of enforcement matters relating to campaign, lobbyist, and conflict of interest violations.

Ms. Bocanegra also previously worked as a community organizer with the Center for Participation in Democracy, a statewide voter registration project, and served as a member of the Sacramento County Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission. She has worked in both staff and volunteer capacities with numerous local, state, and national GOTV and grassroots campaign efforts.

Ms. Bocanegra received her Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley in 1995 and her law degree from the University of Southern California Law School in 1998. Her prior experience includes internships with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, the United States Department of State, the United States Department of Commerce, the Office of the Attorney General of the State of California, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Ms. Bocanegra has been active in a number of community groups, including the USC Alumni Association, the Leukemia Society's Team in Training, La Raza Lawyers Association of Sacramento (2005 President), and the Latina Leadership Network of Sacramento (Vice President and founding member). She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the California State Bar's Public Law Section.
